Poll

I’m Cecilia Martner
and I ran for Lompoc City Council.

And We WON!

Thank you all!

I love Lompoc for its beautiful natural surroundings, its friendly people and its community spirit.  For the past year and a half I have been attending City Council meetings and workshops.  I have followed City issues with particular interest in the City budget and the many land use projects upon which our City Council is working.  Changes to Lompoc are inevitable, but our City should grow in a manner that is sensible, well planned, and consistent with the ideals of its diverse residents and with its human and natural resources.

The current Council is strongly “pro-housing development”.  Simple supply and demand indicates that this drives down the value of our existing homes.  On the other hand, the current Council has failed almost completely to find other ways to stimulate the local economy, such as the creation of jobs in Lompoc that will drive up wages and salaries as employers compete to hire us.

To have a thriving community, City government must be responsive to the needs of its aging population, young adults, youth, commuters, locally employed and unemployed.

Cecilia Marner

In addition to providing the necessary City services, businesses of all sorts must be encouraged to come to Lompoc.   Empty storefronts must be filled and existing businesses need to be supported.  I will promote growth of our outstanding wine industry and the arts as well as promoting new technical and manufacturing enterprises that will foster the idea of “Made in Lompoc”.  I am committed to use your tax dollars wisely and will urge budget cuts so that public safety needs can be met while our quality of life is maintained and improved.

The election is November 4, 2008.

Campaigning is not easy and I need your help to win.
